Alixe Isabel Bures Miller
April 3, 1929 – April 28, 2014
Alixe passed peacefully in hospice April 28th, 2014 – moving on to her next adventure.
She leaves a rich legacy of forgiveness, unwavering faith, love and compassion for all.
Alixe was a fearless advocate for anyone who needed help, and she gave to all unconditionally. Her family was one of her greatest joys.
She loved swimming and beaching, cards, hiking, camping, cooking, baking, teaching, babies and children, road trips, dancing, music, supporting charitable causes, being a social crusader, and doing anything with her family.
Alixe made lasting friendships wherever she went and was much loved as a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her positive attitude and infectious enthusiasm were an inspiration to all.
Alixe was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and Anton Bures; and her ever cherished infant daughter, Linda Jean. She is survived by her children: Don (Anne), David (Jane), Doug (Caren), George (Janet), Kristen (Cheryl); her grandchildren: Kyle, Erin, Robyn, Adena, Anton, Jules, Orion, Orissa, and Aradhana; one great grandchild, Ewan; nephew, Kelsang Sanden; as well as many other much loved nieces and nephews; her brother, Don Bures.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7th, 2014 – at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alixe may be made to the North Okanagan Hospice Society or Partners in the Horn of Africa.
