1927  –  2015

On December 9th, 2015 at Polson Multi-Level Care Facility, shortly after announcing that he was “going to New York to get Gwenny”, his recently departed wife of 62 years, Reverend Allan Dawe passed into the loving arms of his Savior Jesus Christ and a reunion, not in New York City, but in the Celestial City.

Reverend Dawe was a true and faithful servant of his Lord, always there to comfort, to care, to help and to support. His ministry was marked by a love that showed no favor, a compassion that knew no boundaries, an acceptance for the unacceptable, the cast off and the tired, rejected and weary.

Allan ministered for almost 50 years serving at varied locations in western Canada. He was thrilled to be able to return in a working retirement to minister at First Baptist Church Vernon and the Pleasant Valley Church of God. His last years were spent in service to and among the people of the North Okanagan Valley that he held dear. This was a place he loved, where he had grown up on the family orchard leaving to attend university in answering the call to serve the Lord.

He is survived by: his son Loren Dawe of Victoria; daughter Alayne (Reg) Steward of Williams Lake; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister Myra Guenard of Chemanus; brother Tony (Joanne) Hutnyk of Kamloops, numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating Allan’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5th, 2016 at First Baptist Church Vernon. Friends, families, congregants and those touched by his vital and active ministry are invited to share thoughts, join together for a tea and open mic reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to First Baptist Church Vernon designated “Professional Development.”
