Allan

Ross

January 1, 1953 - December 3, 2016

Allan passed away peacefully with his family close at his side after a courageous seventeen year battle with cancer on December 3, 2016 at 4:21 am.

Al was born on January 1, 1953 in the Holy Cross hospital in Calgary Alberta. He was the first son of Jack and Audrey Ross and was soon joined by his brother John in 1955.

In 1971, Al graduated from Henry Wise Wood high school and moved on to study at the University of Alberta, and then continued his studies at the University of Calgary. In April of 1976 Al and his family moved to Vernon BC where he would meet the love of his life Debbie in the summer of 1979. When Al met Debbie it was immediately obvious that he would spend his life and father a family with her. They were married on June 14, 1980.

After building a successful business, Alexander’s Beach Pub with brother John, Al retired to spend as much time with Debbie as he could at Christina Lake where he would enjoy the company of his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, golf, reading, having a sleep on the beach as well as the countless nights spent around the fire with family and friends.

Al is survived by his brother John (Anne) Ross, his loving wife Debbie; his son Jason (Stacey, David, Neil) Ross, Julie (Chris) Embleton & son Jonathan (Sarah) Ross; along with his two grandsons Alex and Nic; and his two granddaughters Jordyn and Makenzie.

Al was preceded in passing by his Father Jack Ross in 1982, and his mother Audrey Ross in 2003.

The celebration of Al’s life will be held on Saturday December 10th at 1:00pm in the chapel of the Pleasant Valley Funeral home, followed by a reception in the tea room.

The family wishes to extend it’s sincere thanks to Dr. Perrier (Vernon), Dr. Canning (Kelowna), Dr. Halkier (Vancouver) as well the Kelowna cancer clinic, the Vernon cancer clinic and a special thanks to the caring staff and incredible volunteers at the Vernon Hospice House.

In lieu of flowers, those friends and family wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Al may do so to, North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 27th ave Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4
