Alma Flindt (nee Summerfelt)

March 15, 1934 - June 7, 2019
On June 7th, 2019, with family by her side, Alma passed away peacefully at Polson Care Centre in Vernon, BC. Alma was born March 15th, 1934 in Wyngard, Saskatchewan. As a teenager, she moved with her family to the Okanagan, eventually settling in Lumby, BC. She married Harold Flindt in 1960 and had two children, Bonnie and Daryl.
Alma loved to garden and always had a large vegetable patch in her back yard. In the summer, she could usually be found outside watering and weeding. She had a cellar full of her canned produce. She was a very talented seamstress and made many beautiful items including graduation and bridesmaid gowns and wedding dresses. She took up crocheting and in her later years was always adorned in sweaters and vests she'd made. She often passed along crocheted gifts she'd made to family and friends.
Alma was a sweet and caring person with a very gentle spirit. She loved being a mother and adored her grandchildren. We were blessed to have her in our lives.
Alma will be lovingly remembered by her husband Harold and her children Bonnie (Nolan) Fretz and Daryl (Cindy) Flindt; her two grandchildren, Megan and Zachary; her sister, Edna Oliverius along with her nieces and nephews.
Alma's family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the staff at Polson Care Centre. During her short time there, she received loving and compassionate care and Alma and her family received outstanding palliative support.
A Celebration of Alma's Life will be held on Saturday, July 13th, 2019 at 1 pm at the O.A.P. Hall in Lumby, BC.
