Alma Mae Melvin

Alma Mae Melvin

“The lady in the chair,

Alma “Mae” Melvin,

has moved on!”

Mae was born on September 17th, 1917 in Hoards Station, Ontario and passed away peacefully on June 17th, 2010 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 92 years.

She is survived by her step-daughter, Betty MacDermid; her daughter, Carolyn (Jake) Terpstra; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and her extended family. She will be greatly missed by her special-needs great-grandson, John Glennie as they had spent so many happy hours together. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, George Melvin; her step-daughter, Joyce Fisher; one daughter, Lorraine Melvin; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carroll (Teena) Sharpe and William (Jean) Sharpe.

With our home full of family and friends Mae always sat in her rightful place – at the head of our table, for after all, she was “The Family Matriarch” and the last one of her generation. She was greatly loved and admired and will be missed by all.

In respecting Mae’s wishes, she was cremated and there will be no Funeral Service held. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Mae to NOTRA, P.O. Box 328, Vernon, B.C. V1T 6M3 or to the Shriners Care Cruiser, c/o 5504 Willow Bay, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8X9.

Cremation arrangements have been made with
