MR. ALOIS (AL) REITER passed away in the Vernon Hospice House on Wednesday, February 19th, 2003 at the age of 74 years, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Moosham, Austria on June 20th, 1928. He served in the Salzburg Police Force before immigrating to Canada in 1951. While in Canada he established his own construction corporation that he operated until his retirement in 1990. Al combined his building talents with his love for aviation by building his own airplane. He was also a Past Director and an active member of the Edelweiss Society of Vernon. Al will be lovingly remembered by his wife Adelgunde, to whom he was married for 48 years, his children; Robert Reiter of Edmonton, Alberta and Dr. Betty Reiter (Patrick Hartigan) of Calgary, Alberta, his brother; John (Inge) Reiter of Westbank, B.C., his sisters; Marianne (Dr. Erwin) Schwartz and Rosamunde (Franz) Mayr, all of Austria, numerous nephews and nieces in Canada, Austria and Australia. Cremation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Monday, February 24th, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Roy White officiating.
