It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin Larry Fidler on August 18th, 2016 in Vernon, BC. Larry was born on January 3rd,1946 in Tisdale, SK. He was raised in the Okanagan Valley.
Larry was predeceased by his parents Alvin and Annie Fidler.
He is survived by his sons Darren (Dawn) Fidler of Armstrong, BC, Craig Fidler of Lumby, BC and their mother, Jeanette Dortman of Elkford, BC, grandsons Darryl and Joseph Fidler of Armstrong, BC, sister Norma Hagglund and nieces Kristine and Bonnie Hagglund of Kirkland, Washington, brother Gerald Fidler (Jackie Head) of Calgary, AB, nieces Tanya Fidler of Kelowna, BC and Brandi Fidler or Calgary, AB, nephew Tommy Fidler of Calgary, AB. Dad had many friends over the years from his work at Consumer’s Glass (1969 - 2008), to hockey and fastball, where he was a well-known pitcher. Dad was always dragging us to fastball tournaments; playing in the final game and winning. He loved to fish, camp and enjoy the stars. This is where Dad loved to be, with his friends enjoying life. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to his closest friends for their care and compassion during the last few months, which allowed him to be comfortable at his home. The location and time of the service being held for Larry Fidler on Saturday, September 3rd, 2016 has been changed to: 740 Eastwood Road, Lumby, BC (Whitevale), where an ‘open house’ will be held from 12pm - 2pm. Refreshments will be served and the family has requested that you please bring a lawn chair.
