Alvina Hedwig Carr passed away peacefully at the North Okanagan Hospice House on Friday, June 26, 2009, at the age of 77 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Kurt and Hilda Hoyer and brothers Benno, Leonard and Richard.
Alvina will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her husband of 57 years, Gordon; son Wes (Donna) of Vernon, daughter Cathy (Ron) Richards of St. Albert; grandchildren Melissa Richards of Regina and Daniel Richards of St. Albert.
Alvina was born near Edenwold, Saskatchewan in 1932. She married Gordon in 1952 and raised her family in Regina where they spent many enjoyable summers at their cottage on Last Mountain Lake.
Gordon and Alvina moved to Vernon in 1978 and retired shortly thereafter. They spent their retirement years traveling, spending time with their grandchildren and, more recently, summers at Holiday Park Resort.
Alvina’s most treasured times were spent with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, July 3, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 4303 Pleasant Valley Road, Vernon. A reception will follow in the Tea Room.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so may make memorial donations in memory of Alvina to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
