It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alyce Irene Desnoyer (nee Muchowski). Alyce passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Saviour on December 25th, 2017 in Vernon, BC at the age of 91.
She will be missed by her three loving children Eugene (Diane) Desnoyer, Sue Smith (Desnoyer) and Marianne Desnoyer, her grandchildren Bryan Desnoyer, Gillian Nordstrom (Desnoyer), Michael Smith and Lindsey Thomson (Smith), her great-grandchildren Felicity and Nathan Nordstrom, her brothers Richard and Wayne Muchowski, her sisters Phyllis Smith, Marlyne Sanesh and Joan Sundby along with many nieces and nephews.
Alyce was born on June 24th, 1926 in Vancouver, BC, the eldest of nine children. When she was very young her family moved to Vernon where she lived most of her life. Alyce was a traditional mom and stayed at home to raise her three children. The home was often filled with the sound of music as Alyce loved to play her large upright converted player piano - and with the hum of a Singer sewing machine, as she loved to sew. She made a lot of her and her children's clothes and was an excellent seamstress.
She also enjoyed working with numbers and later in life trained and worked as a book-keeper. During her life, Alyce also travelled to many places including Australia, Fiji and Hawaii where she was fascinated by the people and the cultures.
Alyce is predeceased by her brothers Roy and Gordon and her sister Gladys.
Alyce will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew her and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018 at Grace Bible Church (5661 Silver Star Road, Vernon, BC).
