Andras “Andy” Vargyas

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Andras “Andy” Vargyas on January 30, 2012 in Vernon, B.C. at 72 years of age. Andy was born on September 18, 1939 in Kapuvar, Hungary. As a young man of 15 he immigrated to Canada with his best friend Joe, landing in Calgary where he started his electrical apprenticeship. Later, at an Easter dance in Moose Jaw, S.K., Andy met his future wife Lorraine. Once married, they settled in Calgary, A.B. where they had three children. The family moved to Armstrong, B.C. in the spring of 1980. Andy continued to work as an electrician. Andy farmed, loved to fish, camped and hunted. A heart attack changed his life, the family sold the farm and moved into Armstrong, B.C. Andy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lorraine; mother-in-law Gertie; three children Susan, Darren (Elvira), Tina (Bryce); and special friends Joe and Donna Ezsol. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren Monica, Michael (Jenn), Dennis (Sheryn), Christie, Brenden, Ethan, Keegan, Mya, and Jordan as well as his great-grandchildren Xavier, Yassamin, Tayla, Nevon, Jonas and Avery. Andy was predeceased by both parents John and Mary, two brothers, two sisters, father-in-law Roy, and brother-in-law Ron. Upon Andy’s request, there will be no service. Cremation.
