Andrew Bruce Buick

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Andrew Bruce Buick on July 24, 2023.
Andrew was born in Victoria, BC, to parents David and Gillian Buick. Andrew was a long time resident of Vernon spending many memorable summers at the grandparents little house on Okanagan Lake. The family moved to Vernon in the summer of 1974. Andrew attended Okanagan Landing Elementary School, Clarence Fulton Junior Secondary School and graduated from Vernon Secondary School in 1980, where he made many life long friends.
He went on to pursue several careers all related to the building industry. Eventually settling on the coast working on high rise construction building forms for concrete. His greatest achievement was building a series of suspended staircases in a downtown Vancouver high rise. Andrew moved his young family back to Vernon and started a very successful large project landscaping business for the last 21 years.
Andrew was a kind, generous and fun person, his co-workers, business contacts and friends were like family to him, and he always appreciated them. Many memorable times were shared with all who knew him. Andrew always had a wonderful story to tell and he knew how to tell a story. This was the Irish in him and a trait he learned from his grandfather after spending many hours listening to the stories of Ireland. The stories sometimes bordered on the unbelievable and family and friends were kept on the edge of their seats waiting for the outcome.
Andrew built many lasting friendships over the years as he always was the first person to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help. He was known by many and loved by those close to him.
Andrew was a strong person who enjoyed skiing, hiking, fishing, camping and anything outdoors. He spent many family weekends enjoying these activities. He also loved to get out on his motorcycle and when on the boat, he found a sense of peace out on the water.
He was a loving husband and father. Andrew leaves behind his sons Shane (Sidney), Conner (Patricia) and Ryan (Madison), his former wife Tammy and his girlfriend Jessica. He is survived by his mother Gillian, sister Karen, his brothers Richard and Mike, their families, in- laws, extended family, a number of uncles, aunts and cousins and friends for life! He was predeceased by his father, David in 1999.
A Celebration of Life will be held September 23, 2023, starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Vernon Yacht Club, 7919 Okanagan Landing Rd.
Food and refreshments will be served. An informal gathering of family, friends, co-workers and anyone who loved him!
