We regret to announce the passing of Andrew Greig Carmichael at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on March 25, 2003. Born March 20, 1916 in Cardenden, Scotland, Andy immigrated to Canada in 1927, and settled with his family in Byemore, Alberta. He joined the Second Armored Division in Calgary and served from 1942-1945 in England, France, Holland and Germany; moving to Vernon following his discharge. Andy worked for Campbell Brothers for six years prior to becoming a school custodian. He was the Head Custodian at the old Fulton School from 1958 until 1981, and was secretary-treasurers for CUPE at Vernon School District #22 for 25 years, prior to his retirement in 1981. His hobbies included Ham Radio and a love of computers. Andy is survived by his loving wife, Rita; children Greg, Lyn, Dave (Judy); grandchildren Terry (Mike) Traas, Tony (Maegan); and great-grandchildren Samantha, Gabriel and Alexander. Andy was predeceased by his first wife, Ivy; brother George; sister Margaret; and his parents. Following Andy’s specific request, there will be no public service held. Cremation. Friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Andy to either the B.C.
