Andrew “Andy” Kosmino
We sadly announce the passing of Andrew “Andy” Kosmino in Vernon Jubilee Hospital on January 10, 2011 at the age of 75 years. Andy struggled for many years with a brain injury, the result of a motor vehicle accident in May of 2002. Other than his stay in the hospital after the accident, he lived at home in Armstrong. He was cared for by caregivers and his wife Joan. Andy will be greatly missed but will remain forever in the hearts of his wife Joan; daughter Andree; and beloved grandson Jesse Janzen. Andy is also survived by his brothers John (Eileen) of Vernon and Max (Pat) of Kelowna; sisters Jackie Bewley and Lil Martin both of Vancouver, Marie Sorci, Stacie Beaumont, Tina Kowalchuk and Rose (Bob) Robertson all of California; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Andy was born in Sexsmith AB on March 24, 1935 and moved with his family to Vernon at a very young age. He lived most of his life in Vernon. In 1997, Andy and wife Joan moved to a small acreage in Armstrong where Andy hobby farmed raising Texas Longhorn cattle. Andy was a well known business man (Kosmino Ventures) Trailer Sales. He sold the company to Douglas Lake Equipment in 2000 and continued to work for them up until the time of his accident. Andy was also well known in the horse world. Andy at times came across as a real ogre-tough guy, but was a real softie at heart. In respecting Andy’s prior wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Condolences can be sent to Andree at firstname.lastname@example.org. Anyone wishing to remember Andy may make a memorial donation to the BC Children’s Hospital (4480 Oak Street, Vancouver BC V6H 3E8, www.bcchildrens.ca) or to the charity of your choice. No flowers please.
