ANN DREXLER

With much sadness and regret we announce the passing of our Ann on June 11, 2003 with her loving daughter Carrie by her side. She fought a long hard courageous battle with cancer until the end, being an inspiration to us all. Even during her battle she still found the time to give her love and support to us all. With optimism and humor rarely wavering. She was always her best to us all. She was the heart of our family, the one to host all special occasions. Her kitchen over flowed with exquisite dishes, just as her heart overflowed with her love. Her door was always open and her support was given to anyone in need. She was a hardworking woman who rarely rested, right up to the last few months.

Ann was born in Vegreville, April 13, 1939, to immigrant parents John Smoliak of Horodenka, Austria, Domka (Tyminski) of Bukovyna, Ukraine, who met and married in Canada in 1914. They lived in their homestead in Kaleland. In the 1960’s her parents moved to Two Hills, where she met and married her husband Aaron. Acquiring extensive family members on Aaron’s side (4 sisters) and (3 brothers). They spent several years in Banff until moving with their children to Vernon in 1972.

Ann had 7 brothers and 1 sister Mike (Gladys), Bill (Ann), George (Marie), Peter (Mary), Harry (Helen), Mary (Sonny), John (Bernice), Alex (Pauline).

Ann leaves behind her beloved family husband Aaron, children Robert Drexler, Carrie Posella, Yvonne (Jim) Murry, her brothers and sisters on both Smoliak and Drexler side. Her grand children Cellina, Cortney (father Guy Posella) Danielle Bradley (mother Tina Jensen) and numorous nieces, nephews, and cousins and extended family members.

A special recognition to her surrogate daughter Sherry-Lynn Kolenski, for all the love and support she gave to Mom and us. We love you.
