ANNA DuMONT

ANNA DuMONT

Anna DuMont

With her husband Paul by her side, Anna peacefully passed away at her home on May 14, 2014.

She was born to Johann and Eva Krumenacker in Betschkerek Yugoslavia on October 5, 1924, spent the war years in Italy, and as a refugee entered Canada at Halifax on December 20, 1948. The train took her to BC where she met the son of her Employers, Mark and Elizabeth DuMont. Anna married Paul DuMont 64 years ago in Vancouver. Together with the DuMont families they owned and operated Sawmills and logging operations from the Kootenays to Terrace, ending up in Vernon in the sixties.

Their love of the outdoors led to the purchase of two Arabian horses for riding in the hills above Vernon. That led to the raising of thoroughbred race horses and purebred polled Hereford cattle. The horses included a grandson of “Northern Dancer”, and winners on racetracks from Vancouver to California’s Santa Anita. What a ride!

Anna leaves behind wonderful memories to her extended DuMont family, her Sister’s children, and friends throughout BC. Prayers will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, May 19 at 7PM and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated, with Reverend Dale Normandau celebrant, at Our Lady of the Valley on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 2PM. Cremation will follow.

Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home. 250 542 0155
