Anna Mattie Hlina

It’s with great sadness that the family announces the quiet passing of Anna Hlina.

She was born Aug. 18, 1929 in Enderby. She moved to Vernon at the age of 17 and worked to support herself till she met Wally and married in 1950. She is predeceased by her parents Floyd and Murl and brothers Charlie and Roy Bramble.

Anna and her husband shared nearly 64 years together and had six children, Linda (Don) Jones, Shirley Brenner, Ron (Wendy) Hlina, Bill (Collen) Hlina, Bob (Linda) Hlina and Lori-Jean Sawan. They have 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Ralph Bramble.

She and Wally loved to travel and experienced many countries together. Anna loved to curl in her retirement years. Bowling was also a passion till just recently. Summers at the cabin with family visiting nearly every week of the summer were highlights in her recent years, They were active members of Gyro Club for over 40 years.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, April 12 at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of BC or the Noric House Comfort fund.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Noric House who offered compassionate and wonderful care for the time Anna was in their capable hands,
