Mrs. Anna Smaha passed away at Salmon Arm, B.C. on Thursday July 28, 2005, aged 89 years a long time resident of Grindrod and Enderby areas. Born at Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. on Tuesday December 21, 1915 and moved to a farm at Craven, SK in 1921 where she met and married John Smaha and the couple moved to the bush farm at Grindrod in 1938. They cleared the land and lived there until retiring to Enderby in 1981. Her interests in life were her family and St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Women’s Institute, Seniors Community Club, along with crib games, Wednesday meals to wheels, Sunday Church Services, gardening, her beautiful flowers and her faithful companion, Archie the cat.
Anna will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by 2 sons and one daughter, Myron Smaha (Frances) and Eli Smaha all of Smithers, Kathy Iselmoe of Prince George; grandchildren Lorilei Klaver (Ryan), Shari Muir (Brent) and Karrie Iselmoe; great grandchildren Rylan, Lauren, Ali, Jaymie; extended family and many friends. Anna was predeceased by her husband John in 2002, parents Myron and Katherine Malowany, sisters Olga and Helen and brother Mike. Prayers will be recited at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Enderby, on Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at 7:30 PM followed by Mass of the Christian Burial held on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Reverend Father Ian Boyd, Celebrant, Interment in the family plot of Cliffside Cemetery, Enderby. Friends wishing to may make memorial contributions to a favourite charity in memory of the late Anna Smaha. A tea will be held at St. Ann’s Parish Hall following the committal service.
