Anna Yanko passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24th, 2017 at Heritage Square at the age of 93 years.

Anna was born on October 10th, 1923 to Alex and Maria (Hawryszko) Buczulak on the homestead farm north of Jasmin, SK. She received her education at Campbelltown School. On November 8th, 1941, Anna married John Yanko and they farmed north of Kelliher, SK in the New Haven School District for 41 years, retiring to Kelliher in the fall of 1982. In 2007 Anna moved to Vernon, BC. In October 2016 she moved to Heritage Square.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Wilf) Krawchuk of Vernon, BC; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Yanko; grandchildren: Randy (Patricia), Vincent (Tricia), Daniel, Chris (Melodie), Jessica (Blaine), Allison (Jeremy), and Kimberley (Dean); great grandchildren: Cole, Austin, Elisabeth, Sophia, Kaleb, Blake, Ryen, and Andi; step great grandchildren; Ashley, Ella, and Isaac. Anna was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1995; son, Richard, in 1999; parents, Alex and Maria; sister, Nettie; brothers: Pete, John, and Paul.

Mom enjoyed all kinds of crafts in her spare time (crocheting, quilting, sewing, playing cards, bingo, etc.) She always grew a beautiful garden, was a good Ukrainian cook and a hard working farmer’s wife.

Prayers will be recited at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Josaphat’s on Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Father Andrzej Wasylinko officiating. Interment will take place at St. Nicholas Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. Josaphat’s following the interment.
