It is with sadness that we announce the death of Anne Lipton, age 94, on April 10, 2019 at Spring Creek Retirement Centre in Bellingham, Washington. Anne was born in Grindrod, B.C. on July 30, 1924 and was the youngest and last surviving sibling born to Konstantine and Anna Scherba, a Ukrainian pioneer family of Coldstream, B.C. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Syd, in 2014; by her parents, Konstantine and Anna Scherba; her brothers, Peter, John, Michael and Bro. Bart of the Basilian Fathers; and sisters, Mary, Pauline, Katherine and Bessie. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Anne graduated from High School in Vernon, lived in Vancouver and also San Francisco where she worked for United Airlines for many years. Anne married Sydney Lipton in 1971 and they lived in Madison, New Jersey eventually moving to Port Townsend, Washington. Anne moved to Spring Creek Retirement Centre in Bellingham, Washington in 2016. Anne was a skilled seamstress, completed exquisite needlepoint projects and was an avid reader. Anne’s ashes will be laid to rest with her husband, Syd, at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
