Antoinette Sammartino

January 17, 1919 – November 26, 2013

It is with love and sadness we announce the passing of our mother, aunt, nonna and bis-nonna, Antoinette Sammartino.

Antoinette was born in Filicaia, Italy on January 17, 1919. Along with her family, she immigrated to Canada, and grew up in Summerland, Victoria and Trail. In Trail, Antoinette met and fell in love with Booney Sammartino, and the couple was married on September 21, 1939. They eventually settled their growing family in Vernon, where they lived for almost 60 years.

Antoinette was a wonderful host and welcomed everyone to her home cooked Italian meals. She loved to sew and was an avid reader. Above all, she was passionate about her family. She was predeceased by her husband Bruno and son Terry.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Sandra (Bob), Brian (Susan) and Tony (Dana) daughter-in-law Carrol; and her grandchildren: Maria, Lana (Dan), Marco (Sharyn), Christine (Derek), Sammy, Natalie, Ryan (Kenya), Paul (Jen), David, Lisa and Mia; and her 15 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held in Delta, B.C.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice, such as the Junction Literacy & Youth Centre, 3104-37 Ave., Vernon, B.C., V1T 2Y2 , would be greatly appreciated.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
