Jun 9, 1931 - May 31, 2018
It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Anton (Tony) Kopp announce his passing in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on May 31st, 2018, just nine days before his 87th birthday.

Anton was born on June 9th, 1931 in Nikolsburg, Czechoslovakia. He immigrated in 1939 as a young boy, settling in the small tight knit Sudeten community of Tomslake, B.C. As a young man he held various jobs, working as a lumberjack to lovingly support his mother, Theresia. He met and later married his one and only love, Anne Reinelt, on August 7th, 1954. He was most proud of his four sons and two daughters whom he cherished and always said were his greatest pride and joy, Tony (Teri) Kopp, Terry (Elsa) Kopp, Kathy (Ron) Yavis, Tim (Manuela) Kopp, Cyndi (Dave) Tetrault and Chris (Cheryl) Kopp. Anton was also blessed in life with sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Theresia on October 23rd, 1984 at the age of 77 years and one granddaughter, Melissa Mick on June 5th, 1982 at the age of 13 days.

Anton moved his young family to Vernon in 1969, and although Vernon had become home, the lure of the Peace Country never left him and up to this year, he still enjoyed an annual pilgrimage to Tomslake where upon entering the house he was raised in, was transformed into a teenager, fully encompassed in past memories and experiences.

Anton's gift of gab and willingness to share his story and listen to yours will be missed by all who knew him. He was a big man, with a bigger personality.....surpassed only by the biggest of hearts. Anton's faith and belief in Almighty God will surely guide his path to his heavenly future. He was a good and faithful servant.....it is well, it is well, with his soul.

Cremation preceded a Prayer Vigil Service which will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at 5:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on Friday, June 8th, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Father Peter Nguyen officiating. A Reception will follow in the church narthex.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Anton to St. James Catholic School or the charity of your choice.
