Mrs. Arlie Jean Pieper (nee Jaques) passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the age of 88 years. Born June 19, 1918 at Spring Valley and raised in nearby Briercrest, Saskatchewan, she moved to the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Valley in 1949. Arlie was predeceased by her husband Bud in 2002 and brother Dave in 1988. She will be sadly missed by sons Archie (Lea) McKinnon of Kelowna; Chris (Anita) and Greg (Cammy) of Armstrong; Steve (Joan) of Fort St. John and daughters Jaqui (Keith) Humphrey of Victoria and Sheila Pieper (Bob Luttmerding) of Armstrong; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother Byron Jaques of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan; sisters Berna Jaques of Moose Jaw and Ruth Harland of Kingston, Ontario. Arlie loved sports, especially soft ball, as she represented Saskatchewan and Canada in the 1939 Ladies World Series in Chicago. She was a member of the Armstrong Ladies Curling Club and later in life enjoyed golfing with her friends at the Royal York Golf Course. Arlie volunteered at the Armstrong Ladies Hospital Auxiliary Bargain Bin for many years. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, was always busy as a quilter, seamstress, painter and woodworking projects. Arlie enjoyed her many friends and the accomplishments she made over the years. A Service of Remembrance will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2006, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Armstrong. Reverend Dr. Jonathan Dent officiating. Following the service a tea will be held at the church hall.
