Arthur Leighton
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Alexander Leighton on December 27, 2011. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Betty and his three children – Garnet (Charlie) Schaal of Ladysmith, Isla (Michael) Vandelaar of Enderby and Garth Leighton of Parksville. Arthur had six grandchildren – Shawn, Trevor, Tyler, Megan, Rachael and Noelle and three great grandchildren – Theron, Savannah and Seamus. Arthur was born in Scotland on April 17, 1927, after marrying the love of his life they came to Victoria in 1954. Arthur and Betty moved to Armstrong in 1970 when Arthur was promoted as the Manager of Buckerfields. He was involved in the community as a director for the Credit Union and as a councillor for the City of Armstrong. He loved a glass of wine, watching soccer and for many years he and Betty worked together in their beautiful garden on Patterson Street. Always in our thoughts and forever in our hearts – we love you. Celebration of Arthur’s life was held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services (2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong BC).
