It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. ARTHUR JAMES STROTHER of Beachcomber Bay. Art died surrounded by his family in the Intensive Care Unit of Vernon Jubilee Hospital on March 1st, 2004. Born in Vernon in 1932, Art attended U.B.C., graduating with degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Forestry, and Education. After a career in Forestry, he taught science and math at W.L. Seaton from 1964 until retirement in 1988. Art loved boating, golfing, curling, maps, history, ovaltine, sitting under his willow tree by the lake, music, friends, and most of all, his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, James Gilbert and Mary Olive Strother, and is survived by his wife Gerry, sons Jim (Sandi) of Passmore, Peter (Marylou) of Vernon, grandchildren (Rats No.1-5) Riley, Ivy, Gryphon, Thomas, and Rowan, and by his brothers Ted (Mavis) of Vernon, Bob (Yvonne) of Oakville, and Boone (Donna) of Vancouver. We remember Art fondly for his generosity, sharp mind, and fine sense of humour (may contain traces of nuts). Celebration of Life Service to be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 6th, 2004 at Trinity United Church. Reverend Darryl Auten officiating.
