With sorrow we announce the passing of Evelyn Shields in her 81st year. Formerly of Vernon, with several years spent in Vancouver area, Prince George, Salmon Arm, and lastly, in Fort St. John. Evelyn enjoyed music, art, gardening and floral design. Birds and animals held a special place in her heart, included were her Siamese cat and later her very special Rottweiler, Sheena. The S.P.C.A. became a cherished source for Evelyn’s volunteering and fundraising efforts in the Salmon Arm area. Her life encompassed many career changes from banking, sales, florist and driving school coordinator to mention a few. Evelyn was very particular about detail in all her efforts and especially her personal appearance. She had zero tolerance for those with bad manners, it’s a family trait. Evelyn’s final and peaceful hours were spent as she would have wished, with immediate family close to her. Daughter Geilan (Neil) Carnell and granddaughters Tara and Heather. Sons Mark and Lincoln Drage, all of Fort St. John. Evelyn is further survived by sisters Gloria (Tim) Smith of Armstrong, BC; Rosemary Falkins of Armstrong, BC; brothers Clayton (Marj) Brandt, Cliff Brandt, Keith Brandt, Ken (Wanda) Brandt, all of Vernon, BC plus nieces and many nephews. Arrangements for cremation and internment were directed by Hamre’s Funeral Chapel for a private family service in Fort St. John.
