Barbara Lorraine Gallon

We regret to announce the passing, peacefully at home, of Barbara Gallon on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Barbara is survived by her husband Bert, daughter Gisele (Pat) Quain and son Mark (Diane) Gallon, three grandchildren Sean Quain, Alex Gallon & Alicia Gallon and many dear members of her extended family and treasured friends. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Mark & Amelia Wren of Melita, Manitoba and three older sisters and two older brothers.

Barbara was born in Coulter, Manitoba on Dec 3, 1926, the youngest of six children. She moved to Vernon, BC at the age of 20 and started dating Albert Gallon at age 25. They were married on September 4, 1954 and lived in an apartment in Vernon. Daughter Gisele was born in 1957 and Mark was born 15 months later in 1958. They built their first home in Vernon in 1957 but moved to Lumby a couple of years later. Barbara became involved in the Women’s Institute, the Queen’s Committee and the bowling league in Lumby and formed many close friendships. They resided in Lumby until Bert’s retirement in 1988 when they moved to Vernon. She enjoyed travel, bowling and spending time with her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital ‘Light A Bulb’ campaign or the Heart Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

A memorial service will be held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Wednesday December 5, 2012.
