Benjamin Dyck


Mr. Benjamin (Ben) Dyck, with family at his side, passed away peacefully in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Thursday, April 27th, 2006 after suffering a stroke the previous Sunday. He is survived by his loving wife, Rita, his father, John, daughter, Joy (Alan) Barkman of Steinbach, Manitoba, sons, Ben (Laura) Dyck and William (Debbie) Dyck of Steinbach, Manitoba, daughters, Brenda Dyck of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Meghan Canty of Surrey, B.C., step-daughter, Wanda (Tie) Hoekstra and step-son, Kim (Birgit) Babott of Vernon, B.C., his grandchildren, Lindsay, Tessa (Isimeli) Masi, Scott, Tyler (Jessi), Joel, Kyle, Kayla and Kyndal of Steinbach, Manitoba, Krystle, Devon and Jessie of Vernon, B.C., Shayla (Ryan) Noel of Calgary, Alberta, his brothers, John (Lois) of Surrey, B.C. and Harvey (Sharon) of Steinbach, Manitoba, sisters, Anne (Hubert) Beisel of Swift Current, Saskatchewan and Elizabeth Foster of Winnipeg, Manitoba and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth and his sisters, Luella Sinclair and Olga Friesen. Ben was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan in 1934 and then moved with his family to Steinbach, Manitoba, where he grew up. Ben was a true entrepreneur and was always able to turn his latest idea or hobby into a business. He also maintained a constant passion for horses which he loved to train and ride. Ben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and sponsor. He touched the lives of many and will be fondly remembered for his humour and ability to say it as it is. His fighting spirit was evident to the end but he is now in a better place with the Lord. Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Ben’s Life which will be held at the Falkland Community Church, 2940 – Chase Falkland Road, on Wednesday, May 17th, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor David Berg officiating.
