September 17, 1928 - June 12, 2019
Benson David Brackett, 90, of Vernon, passed away peacefully June 12, at the home he shared with his wife, Elizabeth (Crawford).
Ben was born September 17, 1928 in Leamington, Ontario and worked as a Skilled Tool and Die Maker at the Ford Motor Company for 32 years taking only a handful of sick days in all that time. He was married to Shirley June (Coughlin), from March 17, 1950 until her passing on January 19, 2012.
He is survived and mourned by his three much-loved sons David (Janice) (of Nelson, BC), Jim (Pat) (of Parksville, BC), and Tom (of Victoria, BC); eight grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren; and his sister, Glenice Klesh (of Kingsville Ontario). Ben is missed by many, probably none more than Liz's family: Melissa Munn, Allan Larsen, Brad Watling, Denise McMahon and Ben's favorite hound, Wilf.
In addition to being a dedicated husband, father and Ford-Man, Ben was an outdoorsman, marksman and all-around handy guy. He was an active member of the faith community and was generous with his time, finances, kind words and deeds. Ben was, simply put, a good and gentle man.
A Celebration of Life will be held later, at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
