Bernard John Gashler passed away peacefully in hospital in Vernon June 27 at the age of 95.
He was born in Southey Saskatchewan on January 14, 1925 and was a cattleman for most of his working life. Bernie married Marie Thurmeier in 1953 and raised 2 children: Geneine (late David) Laing of Bruce AB and Lawrence (Shelley) Gashler of Duncan BC. Marie passed on in 1998.
Bernard is survived by his children and granddaughters Tara Laing and Aleah (Craig) Wohlgemuth and great granddaughter Katy.
Bernie loved to travel and made many friends in his long life. He moved to Armstrong in 2010.
He had wonderful friends at his residence in Highland Park Manor who will miss him. He was especially grateful for the company of his dear friends Betty Bifano and George and Karen Wilkinson and for the wonderful care by Esther Webb at Abbeyfield House in his final months.
The family is also grateful for the care and compassion by the staff on the 7th floor of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
At Bernie's request there will be no formal service for his passing. He will be interred in the family plot beside Marie in Southey Saskatchewan.
