1942 – 2014
Bette Ann Lang (Beckwith) passed away after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer on June 25, 2014. She will be loving remembered by her Son Jason and Daughter-in-law Jodie, Grand-Daughter Shellaine, Grandson Quaid all of Falkland, Mother-in-law Ora of Athabasca AB, her Brother Bill (Frankie) of Kelowna, Mike (June) of Mission, Brother-in-law Mel and Sister-in-law Sherry of Athabasca AB), Nieces – Jodie (Mick) and Briana and Nephew Colin (Stacy). She was predeceased by her one true love and Husband Ken in 2004, Nephew Jamie, and her beloved dog and faithful companion Sally.
Bette was born on September 24, 1942 in Vancouver BC to Beatrice and Maury Beckwith. She followed her true calling and became a very dedicated school teacher and as many of her former students can attest did it with true passion and heart. Even after her retirement she could still often be found volunteering at the elementary school in Falkland or helping her Grandchildren.
Because of Ken’s career in the RCMP, Ken and Bette had to relocate often, taking them from Prince George, Fraser Lake, Kamloops, Vernon and to Falkland. They decided to build their last home in Falkland where they could be near their family and keep a watchful eye over the grandkids Shellaine and Quaid who brought them their greatest joy in life.
Bette was very happy with the everlasting bonds and friendships that she made in life, and had many wonderful friends. She enjoyed the groups that she belonged to including “The Lunch Bunch” and she loved volunteering and spending time with the ladies at the Historical Park. She seemed to make an impact on every person that she seemed to meet.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gavin Smart for the friendship, care and compassion that he not only gave to Bette, but also to the family. We would also like to thank the staff and even many of the other patients at Polson North for their wonderful care. We just can’t say enough great things about the care that you have shown all of us during this time.
There will be a celebration of life for Mom on Friday July 4th at 11am in the Falkland Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation (as per her request) to the Falkland Historical Park. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.MyAlternatives.ca
