Betty Allen

1930 – 2008

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Betty Eileen Allen, at the age of 77 years, at Heron Grove, Vernon, BC on Tuesday, March 11th, 2008. Betty was born June 30th, 1930 in Medicine Hat, Alberta and spent most of her younger years in Calgary. In 1953 she moved to Vernon with her husband, Cyril. She was employed at Bulman’s Cannery and in 1972 worked for BC Fruit Shippers followed by Okanagan North Growers Co-Op until her retirement in 1990. Betty had a smiling face and a great sense of humor leaving a good impression by all who met her. She had a great love of music and singing. Her husband, Cyril, and brother, Tom Burne, predeceased her. Surviving Betty is her loving family: son, Thomas (Fay) of Vernon; sister, Kathryn Porter, of Calgary as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All who knew her will sadly miss her. A Memorial Tea will be held Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Schubert Centre, 3505 – 30th Avenue, Vernon, BC.
