Skallerup passed away peacefully on Dec. 16, 2006, at the age of 86. She was born on Feb. 12, 1920, in Reston, Manitoba, the second oldest of the six
children born to Bijou and Welland Ready. Louise is survived by her daughter Suzanne Kilborn of Kamloops/Vernon and her son Bill Skallerup of Cornwall, ON. She was known as Gram or Bucky to her five grandchildren: Michael (Clare) Wiebe; Chrysta Wiebe; Lee (Murray) Bessette; Quinn Newcomb; and Erik Skallerup, as well as to her great grandchildren; Jeremy, Caitlin and John. She also leaves behind her brother Ken (Vera) Ready of Sicamous; her brother-in-law Fred Tapp and her
sister-in-law Cass Ready. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.Louise was predeceased by her husband Folmer Skallerup (1954), two sisters, Jean Tapp and Roberta MacDonald, and two brothers, Mac Ready and Douglas Ready. As a younger woman, Louise was a competitive athlete, excelling in both curling and softball. She was also a business woman and worked most of her life until her retirement in 1978. She will be remembered for her great sense of humour and was known by many as the joke lady. She was also a friend of Bill W’s and, as such, was a great support to many around her. There will be a celebration of life service in honor of Louise at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Chapel, with a tea to follow. At this time, the family would like to thank the staff on Polson North for the excellent care and understanding they gave Mom. She was truly happy through the last year she spent with you.
