Karras, William John

Bill passed away on August 24, 2007 at Vernon’s Heritage Square Care Home at the age of 86. He was born to Edward and Martha Karras on April 24, 1921 in Moosehorn Manitoba. During WWII he served several years with the Canadian Armed Forces after which he moved in 1947 to Vernon, B.C. He was a general mechanic by trade, owned Oyama Garage for 12 years and retired from Capital Tractors at age 60. He was always very handy and could fix or build almost anything. After retirement Bill loved to fish and travel widely in his camper with devoted wife, Bertha at his side.

Bill is survived and very dearly missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Bertha, daughters Diane (Wayne) Taylor and Elaine (Ronn) Harris, sisters Joanne Reiter and Laura (Herb) Schrader, and brother Walter (Isabel) Karras and grandchildren David Taylor and Lauren Harris. He was predeceased in 1977 by daughter Laureen Karras.

All who knew him will miss his sweet, gentle and generous nature and his wonderful sense of humour.
