In loving memory ~
With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Bill Luchak who passed away peacefully on January 15, 2023, lovingly surrounded by his family.
Bill was born and raised in Vernon, B.C., where he returned in his retirement in 2006. In his early 20's, he made his way to Edmonton, AB, where he later met, fell in love & married MaryAnne Luchak (Yewchin) and settled in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, raising their two children Mark & Pat.
Bill was not only dedicated to his family but also took great pride in his work. During his long career working at Dow Chemical, where he furthered his skills and education, becoming a 3rd class power engineer and obtaining his millwright certification.
A man of many talents and one not to sit idle, he kept busy throughout his retirement. He put his carpentry, mechanical and automotive skills to use to help family, friends, neighbours, and complete strangers. He also volunteered his time to help with local historical restoration projects and Habitat for Humanity.
He found great joy in creative endeavours such as gardening, and also kept active by biking, skiing, and hiking. When he took up golf, he even got that rare and almost impossible hole-in-one! He enjoyed great conversation and would often share stories of his life adventures. More importantly, he wanted to pass on his knowledge of the things he had learnt to family and friends.
Predeceased by his loving wife MaryAnne, he will be dearly missed by his children Mark & Pat, daughter-in-law Patricia, grandchildren Shane, Samantha & Suzannah and numerous family members & friends.
The Family would like to thank Dr. Schuch for many years of compassionate care and the Staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. In addition, we would like to thank Rev. Fr Chad Pawlyshyn of the Okanogan Parochial District Ukrainian Orthodox Church for the prayers & services received.
