Bob Wallace

We regret to announce the passing of Bob Wallace on Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Polson Multi Level Care Facility in Vernon, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Bob is survived by Joy, his wife of 62 years, his daughter Wendy Wallace of Kelowna, his daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Jack Millar of Vancouver, and his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Danny Stuart of Vernon. He is further survived by his 5 grandchildren, Craig Reimer (Tracy) of Fort Nelson, Rob Millar of Vancouver, Keirsten, Heather and Jamie Stuart (Fiona), all of Vernon and his sister and brother-in-law, Gerry and Bob Olson and niece and nephew, Carolyn (Thom) and Wayne (Gloria), all of Portland, Oregon.

Bob was born in Vancouver in 1918 and grew up in Victoria. During his school years, he was active in many sports, excelling in lacrosse, football and rugby. It was during his military service with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II that he met Joy and they married in Vancouver in May of 1943.

Bob’s career with the Workers’ Compensation Board spanned nearly 30 years. He was transferred to Vernon in 1957 and he and Joy have resided here ever since. As safety inspector with the Board, he traveled for many years throughout the Interior and Cariboo making many good friends along the way.

Bob will be remembered by his “Country Club” friends and his old tennis partners. After retirement he enjoyed many good years around his swimming pool and on the golf course. Retirement also allowed Bob and Joy trips to Europe and winters in California.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Thursday, December 22 at 1:00 p.m. at their residence, 3300 Centennial Drive.

Our family wishes to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff at Polson Special and Polson Multi Level for their special attention to Dad’s needs. Also to Dr. Hugh Clarke whose care and kindness eased Dad’s passing.

Memorial donations in Bob’s memory to the BC Alzheimers’s Society or the Vernon Jubilee Hospital “Light a Bulb” campaign are gratefully accepted.
