Born July 16, 1950,
passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, August 5, 2004, after a brave battle with cancer. Her sense of humour and compassion touched all she knew. Bonnie and her family worked in Indonesia for eighteen years after which they returned to the Okanagan and Bonnie trained as a Recreation Assistant. Upon completion she began her employment at the Geriatric Day Program in Enderby where she worked for the past five years. Her love and acceptance of others touched many, and she will be remembered by her numerous friends here and abroad. She will be sadly missed by her devoted husband, Victor and three daughters, Dawn (Taio Waldhaus) of Salmon Arm; Natasha (Urs Reichlin) of Hixon; Victoria (Jon Schmid) of Saskatoon; two grandsons, Silas and Spencer, as well as sisters Lotti (John Dick) of Fresno, CA and Wendy (Irv Kroeker) of Oak Lake, MB, brothers William (Brenda) VonNiessen of Kelowna and Erik (Joan) VonNiessen of Grindrod. She was the much loved daughter of Katherine Morton and stepfather Bruce of Salmon Arm and was predeceased by her father, William VonNiessen. A Memorial Celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held Monday, August 9, 10:30 a.m., at the Vernon Alliance Church, 2701 43rd Avenue, Vernon, B.C. Bonnie requested that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to make memorial donations do so to a charity of their choice.
