October 16, 1953 - October 3, 2020
We sadly regret to announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, mentor, friend and our rock. Brenda was born in Vernon to Jack and Betty Vecqueray on October 16, 1953 and passed away quietly at hospice on October 3, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
The family would like to thank the members and staff at hospice for the high level of care Brenda received during her stay there. Left behind to greave is her loving husband of 47 years Lorne, her three daughters, Samatha Danielle (Dean) San Diego, Kimberly Nicole (Ryan) Kelowna and Jacqueline Natasha (Mark)Victoria; her two granddaughters Lyla Faith and Isabella Hope, one brother Brian Vecqueray (Campbell River) and numerous family members.
Brenda was predeceased by her father Jack Vecqueray, mother Betty Campbell, stepfather Don Campbell and brother David Vecqueray.
Brenda lived in Vernon her entire life and had a long career with the telephone industry starting in 1973 as an operator with Okanagan Telephone she worked her way through various positions as it became BC Tel and Telus. She met and kept many long lasting friendships during that time and retired after 33 years with the shut down of offices in Vernon.
With her love of renovating she decided to get a job at the new Home Depot when it opened up in Vernon. She was respected by customers and fellow employees alike and this produced many more valued friendships, which she carried to the end.
Brenda loved to travel both here and abroad and had many wonderful adventures with family and friends, but was always excited to come home to look after her two granddaughters; which she loved to do at anytime for any reason, especially teaching them how to sew and bake.
Brenda also loved to host parties, teas with the girl's, and countless BBQs around the pool in summer. She was a wonderful cook and her table was always full and her door was always open.
Brenda is missed beyond all reason by her family. Rest easy my love, there will never be your equal.
A celebration of life is planned for spring 2021, where we will honour the matriarch of our family.
