Brenda Lee (Bryan) Vodden

Our beloved Brenda passed from the arms of her loving husband into the arms of her Lord on January 1, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Edmonton on February 21, 1959 to William and Alma Bryan and moved to the Okanagan with her family in 1965. She took her early education in Kelowna and graduated from George Pringle High in Westbank in 1977. Her busy life included raising her son Laine, her joy and her ‘son-shine’; and sharing life with her devoted husband Jim Vodden. She loved gatherings with family and friends, throwing surprise parties and giving gifts being with and doing for people, camping, and communing with nature, also her flower gardens and a flare for decorating,

which was evident in their home. She loved Christmas and made them special and she certainly did that for us all this year. She blessed many

as she loved to be a “Silent Santa” and took much joy in spreading her love anonymously. She has touched many lives. Together with a steering committee, she formed the BCILRC (now known as the Vernon Disability Centre), expanding it to include a Kamloops office. She was Executive Director until illness forced her to retire in 2000. Her loving care was extended to many children whom she cared for through Family Services, doing extras to ensure their enjoyment while staying with her and her family. She had opened up their home as a B&B for a time, and enjoyed meeting and taking care of visitors from many countries and locations. She will always be in our hearts, but she leaves a huge void in the lives of her husband Jim and son Laine, parents Bill and Alma Bryan of Vernon, B. C., brother James (Yvonne) Bryan of Grande Prairie, AB., nephews Jason and Michael and niece Melanie as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins and of course her ‘married into family’ Mary (Mom) Vodden and Jim’s 3 sisters Vicki (Gord) Marshall, Cathy and Judy all of Oshawa, ON, 2 brothers Rick (Linda) of Kincardin, ON, Rob of Lindsey ON, all special in her life. And last but certainly not least, her many close and dear friends. We have been blessed by having had her share life with us. A visitation will be held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Monday January 8th, 2007 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Mass on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with the Father Don O’Reilly Celebrant interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A celebration of life reception will be held following service in the Pleasant Valley Funeral Tea Room.
