Brenda Jean Capel Link, of Coldstream, passed away Wednesday September 2, 2009 at home surrounded by her husband, daughter, sister and a close friend.
She was born to the late Nellie and Robert Capel, August 11, 1946, in Banff, Alberta. Brenda loved growing up in the mountains and was an excellent athlete and student. She went on to study and receive top marks at NAIT. She married Gary Link in 1965. They lived together throughout western Canada before settling to Vernon in 1976.
Brenda was first and foremost a mother and nana of great strength and integrity. Professionally, she worked as a laboratory technologist in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital and handled the finances of Link Physical Therapy. As an active member of the LDS Church and an enthusiastic genealogist, she helped many in the community search their family history. An avid gardener, lover of nature and loyal friend, Brenda was an amazing woman who did much good with her life. Her enthusiasm and butterhorns will be missed.
Brenda is predeceased by her two sons Brent and Brenty, her parents Nellie and Robert Capel, brother baby Ralph and parents-in-law Jack and Marie Link. She is survived by her husband Gary, daughter Louisa and son-in-law Matthew McDowell and her beloved grandchildren Nelya and Wilson. She will be remembered lovingly by her brother George Capel (Kathy), sister Donna Crowe (David), and Gary’s family Leslie and Lynn Link, Carole and Dwight Hurlburt, Gloria and Hugo Tenezaca, Pearlee and Joe Hofstede and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation – Proceeds designated to Community Care or the McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Centre (2101 32 St. V1T 5L2) or for individuals to spend time volunteering in their community for those in need. The funeral will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – 1506 35th Street Vernon on Friday, September 11th at 1:00 pm.
