in Loving Memory - Bruno's family is sad to announce his passing at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, February 17, 2018.
He was born in Zoppola, Northern Italy on June 10, 1931. At age 5, he came to Canada with his mother and sister, to be reunited with his father in Trail, British Columbia.
He grew up in Trail and started a lifelong career in meat cutting, which eventually led to over 40 years of service with Canada Safeway. Bruno's early years were spent relieving meat cutters and meat managers in Nelson, Prince George, Vancouver, Penticton, and eventually Vernon, where he met the love of his life, Karon.
Interests included biking, bowling, canoeing, fishing, gardening, handy -man work, rooting for the Vancouver Canucks, skiing, travelling as a family to Europe, and zipping along on his 49cc scooter. A special interest of his was in making and sharing Zinfandel wine.
Connecting with people in his neighborhood, doing the rounds in the grocery store, and outings with his Trail coffee group were cherished. Uppermost to him was his family.
Survived by his loving wife, Karon; two daughters: Sherron and Heather; future son-in-law, Justin Jay; sister, Evelina Matovich, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Predeceased by his parents: Angelo and Amabile, and his brother Lawrence.
The family would like to thank doctors Deetlefs, Schultz, Theron, McClellan, Hardy, Rankin, Cunningham, and Blyth and all their staff. Thanks also goes out to doctors Kim and Koulis at the Kelowna Cancer Clinic, and Vernon Jubilee Hospital's ER Department and the sixth floor staff.
Celebration of life will be officiated by Deacon Paul Murphy on March 3, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. Reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Bruno may do so to a charity of their choice.
