Cameron Douglas McKinnon

Cameron Douglas McKinnon passed away on November 02,2024 from Cancer. He is survived by his wife Allison McKinnon, parents Bernard and Judith McKinnon, brother Ryan McKinnon, sister Kristin Kraus (Blair Kraus) nieces Eliza and Kathleen Kraus (Kyle Kolenich) and Sadie McKinnon, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Cameron was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan attending school at St Bernard's elementary and Holy Cross High School, places he met many close friends that remained important to him all his life.

Although his first love was music, some of his first jobs in Saskatoon were in restaurants which paved the way for a career in the restaurant business in Vancouver. He and Allison moved to Vancouver in mid 90's where he continued with music and in the restaurant business. He enjoyed his years working at Umberto's Il Giardino, making many good friends along the way. He and Allison eventually opened their own restaurant "The Greedy Pig" into which they poured their talents, skills and passion for good food and hospitality. He loved Vancouver, it was his city.

With his love of music, he was an extremely talented writer musician, meticulous and exacting. His time spent creating and making music in bands were among his happiest. Growing up he excelled at motocross biking and free style skiing. Later he enjoyed Vancouver's Stanley Park and the pitch and putt, the beaches and sailing his sailboat in English Bay. He enjoyed visiting his family during summer in the Okanagan, boating on Kalamalka lake, serving up novel foods and playing family games using his wicked sense of humor to keep everyone entertained. Always quick with a story, he enjoyed sharing his life experiences. Cameron was beloved by family and will very much be missed by family and friends.

A service and memorial will be held for Cameron on Saturday, December 07, 2024 in Coldstream, B.C (Vernon) at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church at 1:00 pm.
