We regret to announce the death at Hospice House on March 25, 2004, of Carlos (”Carl”) Eduardo Roza-Pereira, at the age of 97 years. Carl was born in Hong Kong and was a career banker there until retirement to Richmond in 1969. He moved to Vernon in 1995. Carl was a veteran with the Hong Kong Volunteers and was a prisoner of war during the Japanese Occupation. He was predeceased by his wife Beatrice in 1986. Carl will be sadly missed by his daughters; Ena and Vince Edwards of Vernon and Therese (Tessa) Sprackling in Sussex, England. He is also survived by grandchildren: Antony (Pattie)_, Robert (Lois), Michael (Edit) and Peter (Sarah) Edwards, Samantha Sprackling and Sean Sprackling; and great-grandchildren: Krissy, Chelsea, Samantha, Nigel, Simon, Bethany, Timothy, Ted, Lauren, Paul and Curtis. Prayers will be recited on Friday, April 2 at 7:30 pm at Our Lady of The Valley Roman Catholic Church in Coldstream. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there on Saturday, April 3 at 11:00, with the Rev. Father Martin Peyton celebrant. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Carl to Hospice House, 3506 – 27th Ave, Vernon, V1T 1S4.
