Carol Nuyens

We regret to announce the passing of Carol Nuyens on June 21st, 2014. Carol was born in Water Valley, AB on November 9th, 1940.

Carol was predeceased by Richard, her husband of 40 years; daughter Richelle; Mom and Dad (Thelma and Tom Sirr); and by her sister Leigh. She is survived by sister Skip Troyan (Joe) and brother Larry Sirr (Cindy).

Carol had six children: Melvin Palmer (Doreen, Merton Palmer (Debbie), Janet Goyette (Scott), Celia Beerstra (Ted deceased), Richelle Nuyens (deceased), and Rick Nuyens (Bethany); seven grandchildren: Jason (Nicole), Thea (Luke), Candace, Wayne (Jana), Michael, Adrian (Victoria), and Kayla (Mike); and thirteen great grandchildren.

Carol started school in Water Valley, AB then on to Cremona. The family moved to Nakusp, BC in 1951 where Carol finished her education. She met Jack Palmer and lived in Revelstoke, Lumby, Vernon, Merritt, and Kersley. They had four children. She met Richard Nuyens at Alexandra, near Quesnel. They moved to Lumby and were married in 1972. Richelle was born shortly after and due to birth defects, died before she was a year old. After moving to their home at Creighton Valley (near Lumby) Rick was born. Carol loved her family, each and every one. She spent a lot of time with her parents and enjoyed driving them to different areas in Canada and the US.

Carol had many ventures that were successful. That all came to a halt in 1998 when she had a brain aneurysm resulting in a stroke. She moved from her home to Good Samaritan Heron Grove in 2010 where she received great care and enjoyed the atmosphere and the people. She will be greatly missed.

The Celebration of Life for Carol will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 2208 Shuswap Avenue in Lumby, on Friday, June 27th, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.
