It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cecil Travalian Conrad on January 23, 2010 at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC. Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Sadie Conrad of Salmon Arm; sister-in-law, Winnie Heyworth of Winfield; niece, Diane (Max) Clothier and various other relatives in Nova Scotia, England and the United States; son, Jack (Norma) Conrad of West Kelowna; daughter, Brenda Conrad of Kelowna; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; six step children, Lynda (John) Purych of Blind Bay, Joan (Gordon) Lachelt of Grand Forks, Edward (Laurina) Popovich of Kelowna, Robert (Leanea) Popovich of Langley, Michael (Janice) Popovich of Calgary and David Popovich of Grand Prairie; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Cecil was born to Travalian and Mamie Conrad in Vogler’s Cove, Lunenburg, NS and was the last surviving child of ten siblings. He was a proud member of the Enderby and District Lions Club and a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He served from 1939 – 1945 in the Canadian Merchant Navy.
Cecil worked for many years in the Prince George area before settling in Kelowna in the early 60’s. He worked for the City of Kelowna until his retirement to Enderby, BC.
Cecil will be missed by family and friends.
A memorial tea will be held at the Seniors’ Centre in Enderby on February 13, 2010 at 1:30 pm.
