Charles Frank Fortner passed away in Hospice House on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the age of 62 years after losing his battle with cancer. Charles was born in Ontario and moved to Alberta in 1981 where he worked until he retired in 2001 and got his wish to move to the Okanagan Valley. He spent these years donating his time at the Halina Seniors Center, where he was President at the time of his death. Jean Crittenden, his best friend and companion of 23 years; his children, Chad, Clifford, Ken, Sharon and their families will lovingly remember Charles. Charles is also survived by his mother, Beatrice and his two sisters, Betty and Aretta (Rita) and his grandchildren, Cody, Shaylyn, Mackenzie, Kalissa and Marcus who he loved to call Brutus. There are also many extended family members who will miss Charles. For those who wish to do so, donations to the Vernon & District Hospice Society, 3506-27th Ave, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4 in Charles name would be appreciated. Cremation arrangements were in the care of Vernon Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the main hall of the Parker – Bonneau Memorial Center at Parker Cove at 1:30 pm on Saturday, August 19th, 2006.
