Charles Mathias Lansing, born May 17, 1927 in Neenah, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in Hospice House in Vernon on February 26, 2003, following a valiant two year battle with cancer. Charlie is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sonya, and daughter Lisa (Paul and Tori) and the “grandogs” Max and Sydney. He is also survived by brother, Harold (Cheryl) in California, numerous nieces and nephews, and many extended family members. Charlie was a gentle man who offered comfort and strength. His sense of humour was unique and delighted those who knew him. Charlie was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy, and later in the U.S.A.F. He was a longtime employee of Safeway, both in the USA and for many years in Vancouver. Charlie was an avid golfer and fisherman, and made many friends over the years through both these sports. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 6, at 11:00 A.M., in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, with Padre Brian Jackson officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Charlie to Vernon Hospice House, 3506-27 Ave., Vernon, V1T1S4. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Murphy, Dr. Hardy, Dr. Fairey, and the entire staff of Hospice House for their unending care and support.
