Charlie John Sowczenko
November 4, 1961 – December 31, 2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Charlie John Sowczenko announces his sudden passing on December 31, 2013 at the age of 52.
Charlie was born to Elko and Zena Sowczenko on November 4, 1961 in Vernon, B.C., the eighth of nine children. Charlie will be fondly remembered for his quick smile, infectious laugh, and his ability to fix or build anything. “Ask Charlie! He will know where to find it and how to make it work!”
Charlie spent many years in Alberta and across Canada building houses. He then moved back to Vernon to be near his mother, where he met his spouse of 22 years, Shari, and was blessed with a son, Brian, and a stepson, Jimmy. Charlie enjoyed countless hours with his sons and nephews, sharing his vast how-to knowledge. Charlie will be greatly missed by his many friends and family members.
Predeceased by his father, Elko, his mother, Zena, brothers Val and Danny, and his nephew, Brian. Survived by his loving wife, Shari Campbell (nee Procter), son Brian Sowczenko, stepson Jimmy Campbell, sisters Luby (Mark), Lucy (Bill), Helen (Tim), brothers Victor, Paul (Lori), and David, and numerous nephews and nieces.
