Chester Hansen

Chester was born on July 11th, 1931 in Fawcett, Alberta and passed away on November 20th, 2009 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 78 years. Chester will be remembered by his loving partner of 22 years; Evelyn Davis of Vernon, B.C., his son; Brian (Ingrid Hansel) Hansen of Kelowna, B.C., his granddaughters; Natalie and Tiana Hansen of Kelowna, B.C., 6 step-children; Dwight (Cathy) Elgert of Calgary, AB, Byron (Cindy) Holton of Villeneuve, AB, Kevin Holton of Edmonton, AB, Sheila Raine of Carseland, AB, Lorrie Frederick of Edmonton, AB, Jarrod Holton of Westlock, AB and 2 sisters; Selma Schofield and Haldis Nisi along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Chester was preceded in death by his wife; Nettie Hansen in 1989, 2 brothers; Edwin and Olaf Hansen, 4 sisters; Edith Elgert, Astrid Heinzelman, Jenny Carlson, Margaret Chabaniuk, as well as his parents; Kristoffer and Synneve Hansen.

Chester was a commercial fisherman for 40 years before making Vernon his home. He always looked forward to his daily trips to McDonalds where he and his good friends would meet for coffee. Chester and Evelyn loved making their way down to Yuma, Arizona in the winter months where they met many great friends and had great times playing pool, shuffleboard and dancing.

Cremation preceded a Celebration of Chester’s Life which will take place at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Thursday, November 26th 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor David Fairbrother officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel.
