November 18, 1915 – April 27, 2010
Claire (Babs) Fraser, the gracious and vibrant matriarch of the Fraser family, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2010. Claire has moved on to be reunited with her beloved husband, Hamish who predeceased her by some years.
At age 94, Claire had a full life, always surrounded by the love of family and friends. Her positive spirit will remain an inspiration to all who knew her. That inspiration extends through her children, Laurie, Neil (Julia) and Alan (Lene with Christopher and Melissa), to grandchildren Monica (Norbert), Kevin, Erin (James), Leah (Ryan) and Brett and continuing on to great-grandchildren, Olivia and Evan.
Claire’s pioneer spirit was evident from early in her life when she would join others for skiing trips to Hollyburn Mountain in the days before the bridges to the North Shore and before ski lifts. While still in her teens, Claire formed a strong connection to Big Bar Lake Ranch near Clinton, BC, that continued until she was well into her 80’s .
Claire and Hamish spent many years at Lindell Beach, at Cultus Lake and then at Anglemont on Shuswap Lake. Following Hamish’s passing Claire resided in Salmon Arm before moving to the Vernon area where she spent her final years.
The great memories of Claire’s life run long and deep, so Mum, you and Dad can once again dance those Scottish reels you so loved.
The Fraser family offer their heartfelt thanks to the many people who have been friends and care givers to Claire over the years, Nancy Carson, Emmy Kennedy at the Falcon Nest, residents and staff at Coldstream Meadows and also, residents and staff at Creekside Landing.
A Memorial Gathering will take place on June 19, 2010 at 1:30 PM at the Coldstream Women’s Institute Hall, 9909 Kalamalka Lake Road, Coldstream, BC.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Claire’s name, could do so to the “Peg Marriott Scholarship Trust Fund”. For more information, please contact the family @ 250-545-3722 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
