Clara (SturM) ABFALTER

January 1, 1909 – June 18th, 2007

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Clara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred, in 1998, by her brother, Gustav, and two sisters, Lydia and Ella. She is survived by her four children, Hilda (John) Stonoski, Elsie (Al) Giesbrecht, Ruth (Ron) Pilla and Richard (Sylvia) Abfalter. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Maria, Bradley, Steven, Debbie, Paul, Lisa, Darren and Lara, as well as their families, and ten great-grandchildren. We will always remember our Mom as a caring and loving mother, always there for her family. Clara will be further remembered by her brother-in-law, Henry Abfalter and his wife Helen and their family, as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins. Clara met her husband Fred in Vancouver, BC and they were married there in 1932. They moved to Premier Gold Mine in Northern BC in 1936 and raised their four children there for 13 years, until the Mine closed in 1948. From there they moved to Nelson, BC and remained there for 37 years. Clara moved to Vernon, BC in 1999, where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Ruth. In 2001, Clara moved to The Polson Multi-Level Care Facility in Vernon and remained there until her death. Many thanks to the staff there for the love and care they gave to Clara. A special thanks to Christian (The Music Man) for bringing such joy and inspiration to Clara, along with other residents there. Funeral Service will be held from the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Saturday, June 23rd, 2007 at 4:00 PM with The Reverend Father Don O’Reily Celebrant. Clara will be buried alongside her beloved Fred at the Fort Langley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Clara may do so to the CNIB. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the PLEASANT VALLEY FUNERAL HOME (250-542-4333).
